Composer - Arranger - Educator - Percussionist

Andrew Smit is a composer, arranger, educator, and percussionist. He served as the Director of Percussion at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, TX for 8 years and is an active clinician all throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex where he currently resides with his wife and daughter.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Indiana University’s Jacob’s School of Music. While at Indiana University, he studied with professors Kevin Bobo, Steve Houghton, John Tafoya, and Michael Spiro. During his time at Indiana University, he performed in several ensembles including the IU Drumline, Wind Ensemble, Concert Orchestra, Brazilian Ensemble, and the Afro-Cuban ensemble, which performed at the 2011 Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention (PASIC).

He has also performed with competitive ensembles including The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. Andrew is also a proud endorser of Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
